Your questions

Before we
head out.

A few practical things to know about walks, home visits and getting started.

How do we get started?

Start with a free meet & greet. We’ll talk about your dog’s routine, temperament, health and the walks you need. It’s also a chance for you to meet Ryan before arranging a booking.

Would a group walk suit my dog?

Small-group walks are intended for dogs who enjoy canine company. We’ll discuss how your dog behaves around others at the meet & greet. A private walk may be a better choice if they prefer their own space.

Can you walk two dogs from the same home?

Yes. An additional household dog has a reduced rate when both dogs join the same walk. You can see the full breakdown on the prices page.

Will my dog be let off the lead?

Any off-lead walking would need your permission and a discussion about recall, temperament and the route. Keeping your dog comfortable and safe comes first.

What happens in bad weather?

We’ll agree a plan around your dog’s needs. The weather may mean choosing a more sheltered route, adjusting the pace or discussing a change to the walk when conditions are unsuitable.

Do you cover my area?

Hound & About is based in Hixon, near Stafford. Include your village or postcode in your enquiry so Ryan can confirm coverage and any travel arrangements.

Can I book the same walks each week?

Yes, you can enquire about a regular weekly routine. Tell Ryan which days and walks you need. Availability and any regular-booking discount will be agreed before you commit.

What should I tell you about my dog?

Their age, temperament, routine, walking preferences and anything affecting their care. Let Ryan know about health needs, behaviour around other dogs and any restrictions you would like followed.

Are you qualified in canine first aid?

Yes. Ryan holds the iPET Network Level 3 Award in Canine First Aid, an Ofqual regulated qualification.

Do you belong to any professional organisations?

Ryan is a member of NarpsUK and accredited by the Pet Industry Federation (PIF).

Do you have a DBS check?

Yes. Ryan has an enhanced DBS check.

How will I know how my dog’s walk went?

We use Walkies to share GPS walk routes, photos and care updates. You can view the updates we share in the online Walkies portal or the Walkies Client Pet Journal app.

How do I access the client portal?

Visit our client portal to complete your details, add a form for each dog and review and sign your agreement. Our client information page also explains how to connect to Walkies for walk updates and invoices.

Can I see my invoices and message you in Walkies?

Yes. Your Walkies account brings together your appointments, invoices, walk updates and messages with Ryan.

Do I need the app before our meet & greet?

No. Start with a free meet & greet. Once we’ve agreed your dog’s care, Ryan will help you get connected to Walkies.
